BEGINNER’S BREATHING AWARENESS WITH BODYSCAN

Beginners in meditation often think that the goal is to silence the mind, but then become disheartened when this proves difficult. In reality, the goal should be to become aware of the mind.

This is a beginners mindful awareness meditation that uses breathing as an anchor. Including a body scan, this should also encourage deep and gentle relaxation.

aham brahmasmi mantra meditation

In many meditations we use an anchor – often our breathing – to return to when our attention has drifted off to thoughts or distractions. In mantra meditation, we instead use a phrase or sound that we repeat over and over, eventually letting it go to reveal a quietened mind.
